If you think Super Sunday was brilliant with the England team winning the Cricket World Cup, Lewis Hamilton winning F1 and Wimbledon going to a tie break then you should’ve witnessed the Royd Football World Cup final. All children in Year 1 and Year 2 compete in a group stage format with, playing each other once, before the winners and runners up of group A and B go in to a semi final format. The winners of the two semi finals were Mexico and Italy meaning that they played each other in a tightly contested final. Mexico were the eventual winners, beating Italy 3 – 1. A huge thank you to Ian Cavanagh who is chairman of the Stocksbridge Park Steels Junior Football Clubs for presenting the medals. If your child attends Royd and is interested in attending coaching sessions please contact Ian on 07785616976.
