This term, the nursery children have been focusing on settling into their new environment, building confidence, making new friendships and becoming familiar with the spaces and people around them. Through our daily circle times, we have been getting to know one another and learning each other’s names, helping the children to feel a sense of belonging within our nursery family.
Our theme, ‘Why Do You Love Me So Much?’, has provided lots of opportunities for the children to explore familiar stories and talk about the things that are important to them. So far, we have enjoyed stories including The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Guess How Much I Love You, using these to encourage conversations about friendships, families, love and the things we enjoy.
The children have loved sharing with each other the things that they love and are special to them. We have talked about our favourite things, drawn pictures of what we love, and created pictures of the people we live with at home. It has been wonderful to see the children beginning to share their experiences, listen to their friends and discover the similarities and differences between us. We are so proud of how they are settling in, growing in confidence and beginning to form lovely friendships with one another.
