The children have had a brilliant and exciting time creating their own animation films! The children worked in small groups to create their own story for their animation using a variety of props. Once they had decided what their animation story was going to be, they created a storyboard to show the different parts of their animation – the build-up, the problem, the resolution and the ending. Once the storyboards were complete, it was time to create their animations! Using the software, AnimateIt, the children took photos (frames) on the computer of their props and backgrounds. The children would then move their props slightly and take more photos, and then continued repeating the process so the number of frames built up. Once all the frames had been captured, the children pressed play and the children were able to watch their animation films. Royd has a strong history of animation films, winning grants to develop animation skills further, winning awards at film festivals and supporting other schools.
