The children had an exciting delivery of some living eggs. We really enjoyed watching the eggs whilst they were in the incubator to see if we could spot any cracks in the shells. It was so exciting watching the chicks hatch from the eggs. We learnt that the chick uses its beak to crack the egg shell from the inside and this is called pipping. Once the chicks had hatched they were moved into a warm space where we watched them start to grow. We were really careful when holding the chicks so we didn’t scare them. It was a fantastic experience for the children.
