Royd Nursery Infant School have completed the annual ‘Switch off Fortnight’ campaign and children across school have loved learning about saving energy! As a Green Flag Eco School, we understand the importance of promoting wastage and reducing our use of fossil fuels to protect our planet.

Over the past two weeks, Eco monitors from each class within school have been busy enforcing this campaign by checking classrooms within their year group. They awarded them with either a green or an orange traffic light dependent on what had been left switched on, such as lights, monitors and whiteboards. The rule was ‘if it is not being used, switch it off!’ The children certainly were not afraid to tell their teachers this if they had left something on!

A huge congratulations to Class 9 who managed to save the most amount of energy throughout Switch off fortnight!

We hope the children continue to apply what they have learnt when at home and if they are not using something, ‘switch it off!’

Why not take part at home by having a no electricity day?!
