Last academic year Royd Nursery Infant School were absolutely honoured to host a special assembly for Jackie to celebrate her being awarded a British Empire Medal. Jackie shared with the children her letter from King Charles III and the newspaper article that reported why she had received the award. She also shared with the children why she felt she had received the award and some of the words that were mentioned were “dedication, commitment, loyalty, relationships, respect”. At the time of the assembly Jackie hadn’t received her medal but promised the children that she would visit us again to share this with us. Last week Jackie returned to school. The children loved looking at the medal and hearing all about Jackie’s visit to Buckingham Palace. It goes without saying that all of the staff and children were inspired by Jackie’s words and are delighted that Jackie has been recognised for her efforts. Well done Jackie, we are very proud of you!
